VARIOUS DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS WHO PROMOTE INVESTMENTS
- Individual Distributors: He is a broker between the fund house and the investor. They are required to obtain an ARN card after passing the AMFI (The Association of Mutual Funds in India) exam.
- Distribution Companies: It is an organization that supports large direct salespersons, the AMC deals with such companies instead of dealing with each employee who sells the mutual funds. All employees of the companies are required to pass the AMFI exams.
- Banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs): After the current reforms in the mutual fund industry, Banks & NBFC's are becoming popular and playing a very important role in the distribution of mutual funds.
- Direct Marketing: The fund houses can sell their mutual fund products directly to the investors, however, the sales obtained by this channel are very small and mainly targeted to the Institutional Investors and a very small percentage towards the retail investors.

- व्यक्तिगत वितरक: वह मूल रूप से फंड हाउस और निवेशक के बीच एक दलाल होता है। उनको एएमएफआई (द एसोसिएशन ऑफ म्यूचुअल फंड्स इन इंडिया) परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने के बाद उन्हें एआरएन कार्ड प्राप्त करना आवश्यक होता है।
- वितरण कंपनियां: यह एक ऐसा संगठन है जो एक बड़े प्रत्यक्ष बिक्री व्यक्तियों का समर्थन करता है, एएमसी ऐसी कंपनियों के साथ काम करता है, न की प्रत्येक कर्मचारी के साथ जो म्यूचुअल फंड के साथ काम करते हैं। कंपनियों के सभी कर्मचारियों को एएमएफआई परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करनी आवश्यक होती है।
- बैंक और गैर-बैंकिंग वित्तीय कंपनियां (एनबीएफसी): म्यूचुअल फंड उद्योग में मौजूदा सुधारों के बाद, बैंक और एनबीएफसी लोकप्रिय हो रहे हैं और जो म्यूचुअल फंड के वितरण में बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहे हैं।
- प्रत्यक्ष विपणन: फंड हाउस अपने म्यूचुअल फंड उत्पादों को सीधे निवेशकों को बेच सकते हैं, हालांकि इस चैनल द्वारा प्राप्त बिक्री बहुत कम होती है ,और मुख्य रूप से यह रिटेल निवेशकों के बजाय संस्थागत निवेशकों की ओर लक्षित है।
SALES PRACTICES
We have seen in this chapter that the person authorized to sell Mutual Funds are known as the Distributors, so let us find out the disciplines or the code of conduct that have to be followed by them :
- Distributors have to ensure that the investor interest is protected.SEBI has strictly banned rebating of the commission, and if violated in any form, he can lose the distributor's ARN registration.
- Distributors should highlight the risk factors involved in the mutual fund schemes and should not misinform about the performance of a particular scheme.
- Distributors have to inform investors to read the SID/KIM documents before deciding to invest in the scheme.
- Distributors should not assure of any returns in any type of scheme unless the documents are mentioned in this regard. Distributors should provide all the latest necessary information regarding the scheme to the investors in form of SID, ( Scheme Information Document) factsheets, portfolio details, brochures, etc, and also understand the needs and financial situation of the investor before recommending the scheme.
- Distributors should be aware of the provisions of the SID, KIM,( Key Information Memorandum) SAI (Statement of Additional Information).
In Addition to the above some recommended guidelines related to the Investor Services should be followed:
- Distributors should have details of the investor's background, risk appetite, and mindset
- They also should understand the investor's needs, objectives, and return expected.
- They should be aware of the risk factors and special features of the scheme for recommending to the investors.
- They should recommend the proper services as per the requirement and needs of the investor.
